UNIT 17: WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO EAT?
Period 117. Lesson 3 (4,5,6,7)
I. OBJECTIVES 
-After the lesson, students are able to: 
- Asking and answering questions about what someone would like to eat or drink.
- Listen and read for specific information.
- Skills: Listening and writing.
II. LANGUAGE CONTENTS 
- New words: bowl of noodle, carton, apple juice, glass of water, packet of biscuits, bar of chocolate, lemonade.
- Structures: What would you like to eat/ drink? I’d like .........................., please.
III. TEACHING AIDS	
1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, cassette.
2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks.

I. WARM UP
- Spend a few minutes having the class talk about their favourite food and drink , using the drawing from pictures or video clips. Get them to point at each drawing and say the food and drink. Introduce the new lesson by writing the title on the board and have Ss repeat it one or twice.
II. NEW LESSON
4. Read and do the tasks
1. Match the headings with the paragraphs.
Tell the class that they are going to read the paragraphs and match them with the headings.
• Give them a few seconds to read the headings and the three paragraphs. Then check their
comprehension. Explain the meaning of the new word vitamin.
• Set a time limit for them to do the task. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary.
• Have pupils swap and compare their answers before checking as a class.
2. Answer the questions
• Tell the class to read the passages again to answer the questions. Remind them to read the
questions and underline the key words.
• Set a time limit for pupils to do the task.
• Have them swap and compare their answers before checking as a class.
5. Write about your eating habits
• Tell the class that they are going to write about their eating habits.
• Set a time limit for them to do the task. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary.
• Get them to swap and read what they have written before inviting some pupils to read their
answers aloud.
6. Project
• Tell the class that they are going to work in groups and put words for foods and drinks into
the appropriate groups: very healthy and not very healthy.
• Prepare flashcards of foods and drinks and pass them to the groups.
• They should discuss which foods and drinks belong to which groups.
• You can use these words for the flashcards: water, rice, milk, banana, butter, apple, chocolate,
bread, sugar, chicken, beef, sandwich, fruit juice, fish, sausage, orange, grape, cabbage and egg.
Suggested answers:
Very healthy: orange, grape, cabbage, fish, fruit juice, sandwich, apple, banana, water, rice,
bread
Not very healthy: beef, chicken, egg, sausage, chocolate, milk, sugar, butter
7. Colour the stars.
• Have the class read the statements and check their comprehension.
• Give them time to colour the stars and invite a few pupils to read the statements aloud.
• Give further support to pupils who find it difficult to achieve certain objectives
III. HOME WORK

Summary the lesson

- The class play game: Slap the board, using the words: rainy, sunny, cloudy, windy, weather, sun, cloud.... Then make sentences with the words.
- Look at the pictures to identify the characters(Linda and the broadcaster) and the context in the book guess what the story is about and point at each picture to elicit their answers to these questions.
- Listen follow in their book. 
- Ss listen and repeat in chorus two times.
- Read in group/ pair: One repeats the question’s part, the other repeats the answer’s part.
- Ss give new sentence: What will the weather be like tomorrow? - It will be ... and ...
Note write down new words and read after T.

Pelmanism
- Ss are going to look at the pictures and complete name of jobs and what exactly they do in the future .Remind them how to do it: 
-Ss should look at the pictures and complete the corresponding word, using the given letters as hints.
- Get them to look at the cards and the pictures. Start with picture 1 and ask them to think of the verb that describes it. Then tell them to check whether the spelling fits the letters/ boxes in the card. Repeat the procedure for the rest of the pictures. The first Ss who completes the card correctly is the winner.
- Set a time limit for Ss to work independently. Monitor the activity.
- Meanwhile, copy the card on the board and invite one or two Ss to complete it. Ask them to read out the words for the class to repeat. Ask the class to compare their answers to those on the board.
- Have the class make sentences with the words and phrases from the puzzle.
