lesson 1: getting started & listen and read

a. Objective :
By the end of the lesson, Ss’ll be able to say the event in the past and get to some words denoting the objects in the home
B . language content:
* Words : some new words denoting the furniture in the home used for daily activities 
* Skill: speaking and listening 
c. Teaching aid : book, pictures, stereo and chalks
d. PROCEDURE :
1. Warm up : 
T: Greeting & asking some questions 
+ What do you do everyday ?
+ Do you watch TV?
+ Do you phone your friends?
+ Did people watch TV 50 years ago ? 
 .... and so forth
Ss: listen and answer the questions
T: request ss to look at the picture on the page 38 and name 5 things that don’t belong to the past 100 years ago
Ss: look at the picture and then find 5 things that do not happen in Viet Nam 100 years ago . They can discuss each other 
T: call ss to read aloud the things that they find 
Ss: read aloud the key
Key:
 1) The TV 2) The radio 3) The mobile phone 4) The electric light
 T: request ss to ask answer with the things they have just found
 Ss: do as the request
 P1: Do you have a mobile phone?
 Do you have to wear uniforms
 What kind of clothes do you wear when you go out ?

T: call ss to present before the class with the things they have just found. Then let them do freely

a. Objective :
By the end of the lesson, Ss’ll be able to say the event in the past and use the structure fo “ used to” well
 B . language content:
* Words : use the words denoting daily activities
* Skill: speaking and listening 
c. Teaching aid : book, pictures, stereo and chalks
d. PROCEDURE :
1. Warm up : 
T: Greeting & calling some ss to read the dialogue . Then answer some questions about them
Ss: listen and answer the questions
2. Pre - speaking:

T: ask ss some questions about the dialogue to lead in the topic of speaking 
Ss: listen and answer the questions 
T: explain how to use “ used to” and then give more examples

She used to cook the meals , clean the house and wash the clothes
+ What did her great grand father use to do ?

3. Speaking :

T: let ss prepare in a few minutes . Then call them to talk before the class

T; help them when they find difficult to express. Show the differences on the board in each table
Ss: think and talk freely
T: go around the class to help them. Then call others remark 
(note: must use “ used to” to express)

5. Home assignment:
T: request ss to write 10 sentences to talk about their activities in the past, using” used to. Prepare the next lesson

+ It is about greedy people 
* listen and find the information about the characters in the story
+ The moral lesson is “ Don’t be foolish and greedy”
4. Post – listening:

T: ask ss to write a passage about Ba’s trip basing on the questions and answers they have work in pair to do. Prepare the next lesson “ Unit 3 : Read”
