Week: 03 Teaching date: 27/ 9/ 2021 Period: 07 UNIT 2: I’M FROM JAPAN Lesson 1 I. Objectives. - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Ask and answer questions about where someone is from. - Sentence Patterns: Hi. I’m ____. Where are you from? Hi, ____. I’m____. I’m from ____. - Vocabulary: Akiko, Hakim, Tom, Tony, Linda Japan, Malaysia, America, Australia, England 2. Skills. - Listening and speaking. 3. Attitudes/ Quality: - Ss love their countries. 4.Forming competence: - Communication - Self- study - Using language to talk about where someone is from II. Methods: - Communicative approach, group Ss and T's activities, play as a character, teaching methods with game, teaching methods by visual, teaching methods by practising, discussion group, technical present.... III. Preparation. 1. Teacher’s preparation: CDs player, stereo, book. 2. Student’s preparation: Students’ aids: books, notebooks, workbooks. IV. Procedures. A. Warm up: - Ask sts to sing the chant “hello, friends” - Lead in the new lesson. B. New lesson 1. Look ,listen and repeat. - Set the sense. - Give instruction. - Play the recording all the way through. - Replay the recording for sts listen and repeat. - Divide class into 2 groups and ask them to play roles. - Ask sts to do further practice in pairs. - Check to make sure that sts can repeat and understand the dialogue by going through some words: Nice work!, Japan. 2. Look and say - Ask sts to look at the pictures a, b, c and d and introduce some names of countries: Malaysia, America, Australia, England. - Use handmade puppets to teach. - Explain the pattern: Where are you from? I’m from Japan - Model the structure: T-sts; sts-T; S1-S2 - Have sts to look at the pictures and greet and ask where you are from in pairs. - Move around to offer helps. - Call on some pairs to perform the task. C. Reinforcement: - Call sts to recall what they have learnt. D. Homelink - Have sts to further practice at home. - Instruct Ss to do part 4,5,6. _____________________________ Week: 3. Teaching date: 29/ 9/ 2021 Period: 9. UNIT 2: I’M FROM JAPAN Lesson 2 I. Objectives. - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Ask and answer question about one's nationality. - Sentence Patterns: What nationality are you? − I’m ____. - Vocabulary: nationality, Japanese, Vietnamese, English, Australian, Malaysian, American, English 2. Skills. - Listening and speaking. 3. Attitudes/ Quality: - Ss love their countries. 4. Forming competence: - Co- operation - Self- study - Using language to solve learning tasks II. Methods: - Communicative approach, group Ss and T's activities, play as a character, teaching methods with game, teaching methods by visual, teaching methods by practising, discussion group, technical present.... III. Preparation. 1. Teacher’s preparation: CDs player, stereo, book. 2. Student’s preparation: Students’ aids: books, notebooks, workbooks. IV. Procedures. A. Warm up: Vietnam America * Game: Brainstorming Japan Country Australia - Lead in the new lesson. B. New lesson 1. Look, listen and repeat - Ask sts to look at the pictures on page 14. - Run through. - Give instruction. - Play the recording all the way through for sts to listen, and point to the appropriate line in their books. - Play the recording again for sts to repeat the lines in the speech bubbles. Repeat the step a few times. - Practise with sts. - Divide the class into 2 groups to play a role. - Ask sts to practise in pairs. - Go round and check sts to be able to repeat and understand the dialogue. 2. Point and say - Have pupils look at pictures. - Run through. - Use flashcards to teach the question and answer in the speech bubbles. Have sts repeat the phrases a few times. What nationality are you? I’m Japanese. - Give instruction. - Point to each character in the picture and elicit the name and the words to fill the gaps. - Write the whole sentences on the board. - Have sts to repeat the sentences a few times. - Repeat the procedure with the second picture. - Ask sts work in pairs. - Call some pairs to practise in front of the class. - Check sts’ mistakes when necessary. - Make a few questions to check pupils’ comprehension of the language. - Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation. 3. Let’s talk. - Run through. - Give instruction. - Draw the sts’ attention to the pictures and elicit the language that the characters might use. - Ask sts to practice as the model. - Get sts to work in pairs. - Call a few pairs to practise in front of the class. - Check sts’ pronunciation. C. Reinforcement - Ask sts to spell their name. D. Homelink - Have sts to do exercises at home. - Instruct Ss to do part 4,5,6 and lesson 3
