Option 1: Letter chain
- Place letter cards from A to M on the board.
- Ask one student to say the first letter.
- Ask another student to say the next letter.
- Continue with each student saying the next letter in the sequence, returning to the 
beginning when necessary.
- Remove one letter. The class repeats the sequence, including the missing letter.
- Remove one more letter each time, until students are saying the whole letters 
from their memory. 
Option 2: Tracing on backs
 Review the previous phonics lesson. Divide the class into groups.
 Have each group make a line, with the first child standing near the
 board and the last child standing near the back of the classroom.
 Pass out a phonics card to the last child of each line, but don't have them look at 
 the card until you say, Go.
 Have children “Write” the letter very slowly on their classmates’ backs with their 
 fingers.
 The first child goes to the board, writes the letter, and says the sound. The 
 quickest group with the correct letter and pronunciation wins.
Wrap-up
Option 1: Quick flash 
  Use the flashcards of letters from a to m.
 Show each card very quickly and then hide it again. Ask the class to call out 
 the words that begin with the hidden letter

 Warm-up: Play the Circle jump game.
 - Divide the class into two groups and make two lines to play the game.
 - Draw two large circles on the ground with chalk.
 - Place a flashcard in each circle.
 - Call out a word, and a student from each team has to run and stand inside the 
 corresponding circle as quickly as possible. 
 - Ask them to say the word when standing inside the circle.
 The first student getting the correct answer wins a point for their team. 
 Activity 1: Language input (Activity A- 1. Listen and point. Repeat.)

 - Arrange the flashcards (numbers 11-20) on the board.
 - Ask the students to listen and pay their attention.

- Play the recording and ask pupils to repeat the words a few times. To reinforce 
learning, ask them to clap at each syllable as they say the words( e.g. book/shop: 
clap-clap). Then write the four sentences on the board. Play the recording and ask 
them to repeat the sentences, paying attention to the target words and syllables. Activity2. Listen circle and write. Then say aloud
- Tell pupils that they are going to listen to the recording, circle the correct options 
and write to answer to complete the sentences.

Activity 1: Language input (Activity 1: Listen and tick.)
Tell the class that they are going to listen to two dialogues and tick the correct 
pictures.
- Have pupils look at the pictures to identify the shops and objects. (1a. A sweet 
shop. 1b. A bookshop. 2a. Some books. 2b. Some pens. 3a. A supermarket. 3b. A 
bakery. 4a. Some vegetables. 4b. Some drinks.) Check understanding. Then ask them to read the questions and guess the answers.
- Play the recording more than once, if necessary. Ask pupils to listen to the 
recording and tick the pictures. Tell them that they should focus on the places the 
characters go and why they want to go there.
- Get pupils to swap their answers before you check as a class. Monitor the activity 
and offer help, if necessary.

Activity 2: Controlled & guided practice
Task 1: Controlled practice (Activity 2: Look and write..)
Tell pupils that they are going to complete the sentences, using the picture cues.
- Give them a few seconds to look at the first picture and the worked example. 
Have them look at the pictures and think about the appropriate places and suitable 
reasons to complete the sentences. Check comprehension. If necessary, get pupils 
to work in pairs.
- Give pupils time to do the task independently. Go around and offer help, if 
necessary.
- Get them to swap their answers before checking as a class. If there is enough 
time, invite some of them to read aloud the complete sentences.

to the pharmacy, buy some medicine 
Task 2: Let’s sing.
Tell pupils that they are going to sing the song Let’s go ... Teach the song, following 
the procedure in Teaching the unit components in Introduction.
- Have them read each line of the lyrics. Check comprehension.
- Play the recording all the way through. Ask pupils to do choral and individual 
repetition of the song line by line.
- When pupils are familiar with the tune, ask a group to go to the front of the class to 
sing the song and clap hands or do actions.
- Have the class sing the song again and clap their hands or do actions to reinforce 
learning 
Activity 3: Wrap-up & Assignments
- Ask students to answer the following questions: 
 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today? 
 (make and respond to suggestions to go somewhere.) 2. What’re the core values of the lesson? 
(Use positive attitudes and appropriate gestures for Sts to make and respond to 
suggestions to go somewhere.
- Remind students to do exercises in the workbook.
- Prepare for the next lesson (Unit 16. Lesson 2. 1-3 on pages 42).

- Prepare ps for this unit by teaching them the names of some clothing iterms(e.g. 
T-shirt, blouse, scarf and skirt.) You may refer to what ps are wearing when 
teaching the vocabulary. 
Task 1. Look, listen and repeat.
- Introduce the leson by saying Look at the pictures and guess what the story about.
- Play recording again so they can listen and repeat. 
- Teach them how to say numbers with five digits, using the language notes below
Task 2. Point and say.
- Tell the class that they are going to ask and answer questions about prices, using 
How much is the .? It’s 
- Then ask them to look at the four pictures and ask them to say.
- Teach vocabulary: scarf, blouse, jacket, skirt and jumper and twice, Tshirt, how 
much.
- Sentence Patterns:

- Ask ps to work in pairs and do the task.
- Call a few pairs to act out the dialogue in front of the class.
- Work in pairs. Ask your partners the prices of the clothes above.

- Invite one or two pairs to act out the exchanges.
