The present perfect (10 mins) - Recall the form of verbs and the use of the tense, ss copy 2. The past progressive tense (10 mins) - Revise the form and the use of the present progressive tense, ss copy - Give examples, ss copy 3. The passive form (10mins) - Ask ss to recall the form of passive in tenses they learnt, ss do - Ask ss to give examples, ss copy 4. Reported speech (10 mins) - Recall the way to change direct speech into reported speech, ss copy - Note the changes in reported speech, ss listen and copy 5. Homework (5 mins) - Ask ss to prepare unit 1(Getting stated + Listen and read) I/ The present perfect * Form: + S + have/ has + p.p - S+ have/ has+ not + p.p ? Have/ has + S + p.p? + Yes, S + have/ has +No, S+haven’t/ hasn’t * Use: + Express the actions happened in past and still last the presentand may be in future, goes with “for, since” For + a period of time Since + a point of time Ex: We have learnt English for 3 years/ since 2005 +With “yet” or “already”, the tense express an action which finished or unfinished in past but not mention the exact time Ex: He hasn’t done his homework yet II/ The past progressive tense *Form: + S + was/ were + Ving - S+ was/ were+ not + Ving ? WEEK I Period 3 Unit 1: a visit from a penpal (speak + listen) I/ Objectives: - Help ss to practice the skill of introducing theirselves and how to respond to another II/ Language contents: 1 Language: + Structure: let me introduce myself 2. Skills: listen, speak III/ Teaching aids: Textbook, pictures, cassette and tape IV/ Time alloted: 45 minutes V/ Procedure: Class organization Check the old lesson New lesson Teacher’s and ss’s ativities Contents 1. Check the old lesson (5 mins): - Call one student to go to board and write 3 sentences, using the structure “used + Vinf” 2. Speak (20 mins): - Play the game “introduce myself”, ss play + one st introduces some information about him/ her. Other will report those information Ex: S1: I am A S2: He/ She is A - Ask ss to look at speak (p.8), ss look at - Introduce the situation, ss listen “Nga is talking to Maryam. They are waiting for Lan outside her school. Put the sentences in the correct order to make a complete dialogue” - Give 2 suggested sentences, ss listen - Ask 2 ss to stand up and practice - Give the correct answer, ss copy - Explain the structure, ss copy - Introduce the duty of b) “now you use the information in the box and make similar dialoguages introducing yourself to Maryam’s friends” - Call sompairs to practice the dialogue they prepared, ss practice 3. Listen (15 mins): - Ask ss to look at the pictures and find out the diffences, ss find out a, In picture 1, we aren’t allowed to walk on grass. In pic 2, we aren’t allowed to pic flowers b, In pic 1, the bus is green and red, its number is 103. In pic 2, the bus is green and blue, its number is 130 c, In pic1, it is a Mexican restaurant, and in pic 2, it is the American one (hamburgar) - Explain the situation, ss listen “ Tim Jone’s Mexican penpal, Carol, is visiting the USA. Listen to their conversation and check the number of the correct picture” - Open the tape (2-3 times), ss listen -Ask ss to give the answer, ss give - Give the correct answer, ss copy 4.
